Call for Proposals for 2021 Ida Institute Research Grants

The Ida Institute is now accepting proposals for the 2021 Ida Institute Research Grants. The grants award funding to projects that develop evidence related to Ida Institute initiatives and demonstrate the effects of person-centered care in hearing rehabilitation. The Ida Institute has allocated funding to the value of $30,000 USD to be awarded to three projects in 2021, with a maximum of $10,000 USD per grant.

In 2021, the Ida Institute is particularly interested in projects related to:

The timeline of the projects is one year. Grant recipients agree to begin their research projects no later than September 1, 2021, and submit a report on the results to the Ida Institute no later than September 1, 2022.

Temporary Hearing Loss Test App – Now Free!

The Musicians’ Clinics of Canada announced the latest update for its Temporary Hearing Loss Test app. Among its updates, the app is now Free and is available for iOS and Android platforms.

The Temporary Hearing Loss Test App measures the softest sound that can be heard before the music or noise exposure, and then again, after the music or noise exposure. The difference is a measure of the temporary hearing loss, also known as temporary threshold shift (or TTS).

THHAC SURVEY

The purpose of this research is to gain information directly from people who have hearing difficulties and those who are caring for a dependent person with hearing difficulties. This information gathered will be used together with other evidence to guide future proposals to develop a National Hearing Strategy and implement change over time.
