Moneca Price Humanitarian Award
The Moneca Price Humanitarian award is presented to an audiologist in recognition of extraordinary humanitarian and community service, above and beyond the requirements of employment. The award is to honour the late Moneca Price who took on significant leadership roles in both the Canadian Academy of Audiology and the College of Audiologists and Speech-Language Pathologists of Ontario.
This year the award was given posthumously to Brad Allard, a dedicated Audiologist and wonderful man. Brad’s humanitarian work with the charity 'Perry Medico' is being recognized. Brad played an integral part in the development of the Perry Medico Audiology program in a small town called Yamasa in the Dominican Republic.
Through this program the community was provided with audiology assessment and rehabilitation services. Local residents were trained to provide ongoing care. Brad volunteered his time and skills from 2010 until he passed in 2021.
The award was received on behalf of the family by Brad Allard’s step-son, Luis Eduardo Mejicano
