As the incoming president of the Canadian Academy of Audiology (CAA), I am thrilled to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who contributed to the success of our recent conference in Kelowna. This event was remarkable for its dynamic presentations and inspiring discussions and for setting a new record in attendance, underscoring the dedication and enthusiasm within our community. At a time when many similar conferences are contracting, our success illustrates the Academy’s ability to produce relevant, impactful content for our members and the broader audiology community.

I bring back lasting memories and inspiration from this year’s event, from Frank Lin’s scientific session to all the invaluable hallway networking and social interactions among CAA members and peers.

I am excited to announce that our 2025 conference will be held at the Blue Mountain Resort in Collingwood, Ontario. Please stay tuned for additional details in the coming months. I encourage everyone to join us as we build on this momentum and continue exploring the frontiers of our profession. The annual conference is a cornerstone of the CAA’s commitment to providing high-quality continuing education and professional development for our field.

This issue of Canadian Audiologist reflects that commitment, focusing on timely and relevant topics shaping the future of hearing healthcare. From advancements in artificial intelligence to the impact of disruptive technologies, innovation is transforming our field in unprecedented ways. Andreas Seelisch is the Director of Audiology at Hearing Solutions, the largest independently owned and operated hearing aid retailer in Ontario with 27 clinics. He graduated from Western University with a Masters in Communication Sciences and Disorders in 2008 and completed his thesis work at the National Centre for Audiology on the sound quality impact of frequency compression technology. His current research focus is on clinically applicable topics such as using simulation in training clinicians and exploring barriers to hearing aid uptake.
