CAA Recognizes Outgoing, Incoming President
Thank you to Andreas Seelisch for his leadership during his tenure as President of CAA. We welcome Patricia Auger, to her role as the new CAA President. We know she will help to steer the work of CAA as it continues to provide significant contributions to Audiology in Canada. We also welcome Sarah Wilson who has stepped into the role of President Elect. We are confident she will be a strong and steady leader in the following year.

Welcome to the New Member of the CAA Board of Director
The Canadian Academy of Audiology is happy to introduce the newest member of our Board of Directors, Simon Pawlowski. Simon brings a wealth of knowledge and unique expertise and his addition to the board will help CAA continue to grow as a strong, united voice for audiology.
CAA remains dedicated to enhancing the role of audiologists as primary hearing health care providers through advocacy, education and research.

2025 CAA Award Winners
CAA President's Award
The Canadian Academy of Audiology is pleased to announce the recipient of the 2025 President's Award, Dr. Michael J. Vekasi. This award is given in recognition of outstanding contribution to the development of the Academy (nominated by the President of the Academy, with the unanimous consent of the Board of Directors).
Dr. Vekasi, served as the CAA President from 2024 to 2025. He remains on the CAA Board of Directors providing direction and leadership to the organization. Dr. Vekasi is the chair of the Vestibular Interest Group and the Canadian Entry-to-Practice Exam,. A regular contributor to the Canadian Audiologist Journal, Dr. Vekasi also helped to create the Rising Star Award in collaboration with the committee of Past Presidents and much more. His background in advocacy continues to be a significant asset as he champions of the work CAA and the audiology procession.

William Cole Industry Award
The William Cole Industry Award is presented this year to Rick Cameron. This award is presented to an individual or group of individuals working within the industry supporting hearing healthcare and hearing loss management. The award is given in recognition of outstanding achievement or contribution to improved hearing function; education and support of hearing healthcare providers; or outstanding humanitarian action to under-served populations affected by hearing loss. Congratulations Rick.

Moneca Price Humanitarian Award
The winner of this year's Moneca Price Humanitarian Awardis Christine Brown. This award is presented to an audiologist in recognition of extraordinary humanitarian and community service, above and beyond the requirements of employment. The award is to honour the late Moneca Price who took on significant leadership roles in both the Canadian Academy of Audiology and the College of Audiologists and Speech-Language Pathologists of Ontario. Congratulations Christine.

Honours of the Academy
The recipient of the Honours of the Academy award this year is Robert Harrison. This award is presented for outstanding contribution to audiology or a related field; such as the development of a significant clinical program, test procedure or protocol, an outstanding research project, teaching or mentoring, excellence in management of an audiology or related program, contribution to the field through advocacy or outstanding public relations efforts. Congratulations Robert.

Richard Seewald Career Award
Marshall Chasin is the recipient of this year's Richard Seewald Career Award. This award recognizes a career in research, clinical practice, teaching, and/or mentoring young people. The candidate must have made significant contributions to the knowledge base, practice and/or teaching of audiology or a related field and have had a long term professional career. Congratulations Marshall.

Rising Star Award – Clinical
The Rising Star Award – Clinical recognizes a clinical audiologist in their first 7 years of post-graduation practice who has contributed significantly to the profession. This may include single or combined contributions to clinical practice, clinical research, teaching/education, or volunteer work to advancing the profession or patient care. CAA is pleased to present this award in its inaugural year to 2 winners: Simon Pawlowski and Heather Ritchie. Congratulations.
