Letter to the Editor
I enjoyed reading Wayne’s feature on the hearing and hearing aid related journals from days gone by. Some of these publications are available in searchable format on the ReSound Audiological Library, including Scandinavian Audiology 1972–2001 with supplements, Journal of Speech and Hearing Research 1958–2004 and Journal of Auditory Research 1961–1987. The library also has the proceedings from all of the Danavox Symposia, which contain many seminal articles on amplification.
The link is: http://www.audiological-library.gnresound.dk/ Anyone can use the library and download articles for free. Currently you do have to register as a user but again there is no charge for this.
Beltone Translations was also mentioned in the feature. I have a complete electronic collection of these. If any of your readers are interested in any of them they are welcome to contact me and I can send what they are looking for. In addition I have scans of almost all articles from Hearing Instruments from 1961 through 1996. I’m not sure to what extent either of these publications might be available in university libraries but they don’t seem to be findable otherwise.
Preserving and making these publications available to others has been a mission of my colleague, Nikolai Bisgaard, who is retiring this year. I am taking the torch.
